Of the two vendeuse's, the one with better tailoring skills was considered the premiere.

Arpette

The arpette's job was the lowest of all jobs in the fashion industry. Usually the arpette held the pins the vendeuse needed and picked up scraps.
The Buyer
​
A buyer held a lot of responsibilities in the industry. Their job was to buy fabrics, textiles, sequins, feathers and beads for the vendeuse to work with. A buyer had a quin eye for trends.
Vendeuse
​
The Vendeuse was the main saleswoman at a shop. She was also the fitter and had to have an extensive knowledge of the clients body and preferred style. Typically, there were two vendeuse's in a shop.
