Cloting

Accessories

Flappers usually wore dresses whose hemline was above the knee. These dresses were the shortest seen in history up to that point. The waistband of these dresses were around the hips. Dresses were made out of silk, textiles and polyester. The more affordable dresses were made of cotton. Beads, gems, and feathers were attached to dresses to further enhance the rough movements made while dancing.

The flapper look was typically boyish and consisted of short hair, straight waists and flattened breast. In the roaring twenties a demand for corset fitters increased. These specially-made corset helped the average women accomplish the 'in' look.

Tight, fitted hats were worn to accentuate the bobbed hairstyle

Nude stockings were a must as well for flappers. It gave the illusion of bare legs but still covered most of the skin.

Fans were used to hid ones face for others or cover the lower half of ones face, revealing the eyes to flirt with others.

A flappers hair was bobbed and very boyish. To soften the look, girls would finger curl their hair.  Cloche hats were also worn. They were much more accessible to wear with women's short hair.

Dark makeup was another trend used by flappers. This was the first time makeup was used by not only prostitutes or actresses. Eye makeup was heavy and dark. Lipsticks in deep red shapes were very popular as well.

After World War I, an explosion of color and rebellious behavior entered the world. A new image was created of fun loving women who were far less modest than the generation before.
